Leadership Roles Changing Hands

June 1, 2022 EMS Chief Doug LaRue stepped down as the districts Chief and turned the reins over to EMS Chief Aunee Helton. Doug had been training Aunee for a couple years leading up to this change. Aunee has served on the department since January 2007, going from not certified to a Basic EMT and later becoming an Advanced EMT. Aunee had served as a Lieutenant and later as the Assistant Chief to Chief LaRue before she took the reins as the current EMS Chief for Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District. Aunee is married to Jason Helton and together they have 4 children. Aunee and her husband Jason both serve Upper Scioto Valley Ambulance District as well as Alger Fire as Level 1 Firefighters.
