New Equipment Arrival
Chief Helton was able to obtain the BWC Grant for the full $40,000 which help to offset the cost of one new power cot, power load system and a stair chair. This grant is only available every 3 years. The total cost for everything was $68,000. These were put into service September 25, 2023. Before the new cot and stair chair arrived USV EMS had always used manual cots that resulted in the EMS providers to do a lot of heavy lifting. Two manual cots are still in operation today. Due to the high cost of the power cots, power load system and stair chair the district is currently only able to obtain one set. In the years to come the idea is to replace all of the manual cots with powered cots. The goal is to reduce injuries to the EMS providers with the power systems by reducing the need of heavy lifting. Special thanks goes out to BKP's Chief, Chief Smith, and an EMS provider from Hanco, Jon Kraft, for installing the load system into the truck, as well as to Stryker representative Max for assisting in the whole process.
